Rides and Pastimes...

Big Dipper (1925)

Originally designed by the renowned team of Frank Prior and Frederick Chruch, this is considered a sister coaster to The Giant Dipper (1924) at the Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk. Although that coaster was designed by Arthur Loof, patents owned by Prior and Church were used in its planning. However, the San Diego coaster is filled with steeper banks and tighter turns - don't underestimate this power house of a ride; after lying dormant (1976 - August 1990) and even falling victim to a fire, this woodie is an unforgetable classic.
